HorseWatch

Farmwatch offer a HorseWatch Scheme within its services to the rural community. Owners of horses and ponies are targeted by thieves on a regular basis. Tack is stolen, horses and ponies injured and on occasions allowed to stray onto the public highway.

The marking of tack is one of the most important duties of HorseWatch. If your tack is marked it makes it much more difficult for the thief to sell your items on and you stand a far better chance of the items not being stolen or at least being easier to recover.

The Police have introduced a recovery scheme for horses ponies and donkeys that stray onto or near the public highway and the owner cannot be readily  traced. This hopefully will  prevent some of the horrendous collisions that occur when a horse or pony is struck by a vehicle. As part of this scheme Farmwatch offer a facility to the Police to assist in tracing the owner so that the animal can be returned to its  field without the need to call out the recovery team and therefore incur the expense of the recovery and the extra inconvenience to the owner of collecting their animal from the holding facility.

In order to take advantage of this service the horse owner needs to join HorseWatch and register their horses, ponies and donkeys with Farmwatch Limited.

For more details please contact us via  postmaster@farmwatchltd.co.uk email address for more details. or complete the application form and check out the objectives. Membership of HorseWatch will initially cost owners £10.00 per year plus VAT (£11.75) and a one off payment to register each horse pony or donkey will cost £5.00  plus VAT (£5.87) This payment will assist in the administration of the register. Owners of horses who are already members of Farmwatch can register their animals and take part in the scheme. In addition to the register Horse owners will be able to take advantage of some of the advantages of being a member of Farmwatch. A Newsletter with updates on Horse related matters, discount at local locksmiths, advice and assistance with Crime prevention.
